LA MAROTTE

AN EARLY 19 CENTURY STONE VILLAGE COTTAGE SET IN THE SOUTH OF THE DORDOGNE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Marotte Cottage
La Marotte started life as a fermette on the southern edge of the village of Ste Sabine. More recently the second home of a Parisien and then an English artist and his artist wife. We bought the house in 2002 in a basic but habitable condition. Since then we have installed a private heated swimming pool and fully restored the main core of the house to make a comfortable holiday cottage to rent as well as our own second home.

The accommodation is now entered from a covered all weather verandah through double doors into the dining room. From this on the right is a newly fitted kitchen and downstairs cloakroom. Beyond the dining room is the sitting room with door to the garden at the western end of the building and doors to the main bedroom and the stairs to the first floor. The cottage sleeps four. The main bedroom has an ensuite shower room. Upstairs is a very large bedroom over the whole of the sitting room and the main bedroom. There is a full bathroom accessed from this bedroom.

THE LOCATION
Ste Sabine is in the very south of the Dordogne only a mile or so from the border to the Lot and Garonne. To the north Lies the Dordogne river and the towns of Bergerac and Périgueux. Surrounding are the glorious Bastide towns. Our closest bastide town is Villereal (8km to the south), slightly further afield are Monflanquin, Monpazier, Castillonnes, all within easy driving distance for a day or evening out. Further afield to the east are the prehistoric sites of Les Eyzies and the spectacular Rocamadour. To the west the wine country of St Emilion and Bordeaux.
